Founded by musician, singer and DJ Jay Collins, Rad Music Studios brings decades of music and live performance experience to Ipswich, helping artists and businesses create, record, and share their music through personalized support, production, branding, and modern creative tools including AI. Alongside these services, the JC Artist Development Journey is our funded community outreach initiative, supporting eligible emerging artists through a guided pathway from idea to release.
The spark behind RAD Music Studios
At the beginning of 2026, musician, singer, and DJ Jay Collins saw how emerging AI music tools could simplify creative work that had once taken considerable time and effort. So he set himself a practical test: could these tools, alongside other music production tools and his own experience, help him produce and professionally release an original song? Choosing one of the songs he'd written in 1986, Jay documented every step from selecting the song to its release in July 2026. That documented process became the foundation of the JC Artist Development Journey, RAD Music Studios’ funded community outreach initiative. It also shaped the studio's wider approach: combining musical experience with modern creative tools to make music creation more accessible, save time, and help artists learn the skills to move their own projects forward.
Our inspiration: the artist's journey
At Rad Music Studios, we recognize that countless songwriters and singers and musicians create wonderful songs that never reach an audience. Not for lack of talent, but for lack of resources. Our purpose is to help bridge that gap. By sharing practical skills, modern creative tools including AI- and experience grounded guidance, we want to help artists finish what they start. Build confidence and move their music forward.
Starting in Ipswich, RAD Music Studios aims to extend its support beyond Brisbane to other communities over time. Our long term vision is to help more artists access the guidance, skills, and creative tools they need to bring their music to an audience.

We want artists to feel comfortable exploring their ideas, building confidence and developing their music without losing their own identity. Our role is to guide and support the artist, using creativity, experience and modern technology to help them move forward while keeping their own vision at the heart of the process.
Meet the Founder
Jay Collins is the founder of RAD Music Studios and the creator of the JC Artist Development Journey. With a lifelong connection to music as a singer, songwriter, musician and DJ, Jay brings both creative experience and first-hand understanding of the challenges independent artists can face when turning an idea into a finished release.
His vision for RAD Music Studios is simple: to help artists overcome the barriers of limited time, resources and access to practical guidance that have held many back for decades. Modern creative tools, especially AI, are central to the studio’s approach, helping streamline music creation and release. Jay welcomes artists who are willing to explore these tools and learn how to use them effectively and responsibly. By sharing his experience and practical methods, he aims to help them save time, develop their skills and complete their projects while retaining control of their creative decisions.
