Our story at RAD Music Studios

Discover the story behind RAD Music Studios, from a song first written in 1986 and finally released forty years later, to a vision for helping emerging artists navigate their own journey from idea to release.

The spark behind RAD Music Studios

RAD Music Studios grew from a journey that began forty years ago. In 1986, founder Jay Collins wrote an original song that would remain part of his musical story for decades. In 2026, he returned to that song, determined to finally bring it to life.

What followed was a hands-on journey through the many stages an independent artist faces: developing the song, producing and recording the music, exploring modern and AI-assisted creative tools, preparing for release, establishing an artist identity, navigating distribution and promotion, and ultimately releasing the song professionally in July 2026.

Our inspiration: the artist's journey

Taking an original song from its first idea through production, recording, release preparation and ultimately releasing it to the world showed Jay firsthand just how much an emerging independent artist has to learn and navigate along the way.

That experience became the inspiration for RAD Music Studios and the JC Artist Development Journey. RAD stands for Rising Artist Development, reflecting our commitment to helping emerging artists develop their music, build their confidence and navigate their own pathway from creative idea to release.

A welcoming space for creativity

RAD Music Studios is designed to be a welcoming, supportive and creative place where emerging artists feel heard, respected and encouraged. We want artists to feel comfortable exploring their ideas, building confidence and developing their music without losing their own identity. Our role is to guide and support the artist, using creativity, experience and modern technology to help them move forward while keeping their own vision at the heart of the process.

"RAD Music Studios was built on a simple belief: every emerging artist deserves the opportunity to explore what their music could become.

Our role is not to replace the artist's creativity, but to provide the guidence, tools and support that can help bring their ideas to life."

Our vision for the future

Our goal is to help emerging artists turn their musical ideas into real opportunities, giving them the guidance, tools and confidence to develop and release their music.

For RAD Music Studios, the vision is to build a sustainable artist-development network that begins in Ipswich and can grow into other communities, creating more accessible pathways for emerging artists who may otherwise struggle to take their next step.
